Pleasantly surprised
Let's start with saying that many of the on-line reviews do not do just to this hotel.
Visiting Bahrain for 3 weeks which co-inceded with the F1-weekend I was forced to find another hotel then my usual place to stay: the Gulf Hotel.
Ofcourse Golden Tulip is not quite the same 5-star class though it comes a fair way with the updated executive/deluxe rooms (can't comment on the standard rooms as I haven't seen these). I have a little gripe here as I reserved an executive room, but ended up with a deluxe. What mattered though is that this hotel is very quiet. No loud disco at night.
Food: Kei very good, Buffet good, Ciro: not too great. AC in rooms could use improvement and I prefer a shower cubicle.
All in all I will be back again. Let's start with saying that many of the on-line reviews do not do just to this hotel.

WIFI too expensive

Not happy about the reservation office
Confirmation No. 92279396
I booked this accommodation for my mother as a gift and I provided my credit card details. I called the hotel and asked to deduct the charges from my credit card, and the hotel asked me to contact the reservation office by email.
So, I emailed them requesting the same, but I didn't receive any confirmation for my request. Upon check-in, my mother was denied a room because the reservation was not paid for. My mother had to call me in Kuwait and I had to speak to the reception and request them to charge my card. Only then, they gave her a room. What if I wasn't available at the time? I didn't expect this from the hotel. Confirmation No. 92279396

OK Stay
I have stayed at Golden Tulip many times and my last visit was slightly disappointing to the rest. Ground floor rooms not to the same standards as previous rooms I have stay in. Also requested a double bed and received a room with 2 x singles. Otherwise a good stay at reasonable costs.

Very good service and friendly staff
We enjoyed very good service from all staff. All requests were dealt with quickly and adequately. When asked we received the assistance we needed. Even during the busy F1 Bahrain weekend, staff paid attention to all of our special needs. Recommend the massage service: professional and friendly. All well done! We will certainly return.

Improving Rooms
I used to stay at your hotel since years , I did not see any improvments to the Furniture. Beds and TV's are sooooo old . Closets also needs some maintenance or even rehabilitation.

Comments on the room and appeciation.
Comments :
1. TV remorte contrller is out of order, especially, On-Off and Channel buttons.
2. The flush plug in Bath room basin does not work, I could not keep water inside the basin(shower only is not sufficient for me. I wanted to enjoy the warm water filled in the basin, so called Japanese style).
3. The photo in the room is not correct. Because the photo shows a double bed, however, twin beds are furnished acually.
4. As 5 star hotel, 60BD/room is attractive for us. However, many 4 star hotels provide the room with 50BD/room with better furniture.

Front desk clerks at the night shift of 4th Mar. are very kind. They have fixed my mobile phone willingly. Comments :

Does what it says on the tin
The Golden Tulip is a basic business hotel, with a bit of old school charm which might appeal to those of who've been in the region a while. Whilst it's showing its age, it's perfectly fine staying there for a few days on business. It is definitely not one of the 'livelier' Bahrain hotels, which is a good thing.
There are other hotels that have more entertainment, a more up to date gym, more modern rooms, etc, but the Golden Tulip's fine - a basic, odler hotel and a classic example of what I call 'Gulf Beige' architecture. Regular travellers around the Middle East will probably know exactly what I mean. The Golden Tulip is a basic business hotel, with a bit of old school charm which might appeal to those of who've been in the region a while.
