Great stopover
First time to stay here. Was in transit from Europe to Far East and stayed in Bahrain for one night. The hotel was clean & comfortable and excellent value for money. Will stay again whenever in Bahrain.

Golden Tulip Review
I travel quit often to Golden Tulip (being resident in Saudi Arabia). The only issue which I have is the way how is done the check-in on the reception.
Since I have booked a standard room with king bed why shall I beg the receptionist to give me a room with king bed size? Why all the time they want to give me a room with queen bed size? I will suggest to the hotel to pay more attention on this aspect because the front desk shown the image of the hotel. I travel quit often to Golden Tulip (being resident in Saudi Arabia). Vast improvement from previous visists
This hotel used to be opereated a major 5 star label for since the '70s, & never reflected the quality associated with the name (except Kei restaurant). Now I feel that there have been considerable improvements altough the stale drain smell persists in the lobby as it did in the '80s.
I am non smoker however I could not find the preference when booking online. Thus when checking in there were only smoking rooms available. However the supervisor took the situation in hand and upgraded me to an excellent Executive room. thank you!
Internet rates are expensive but an improvement from 10 years back!
Buffet breakfast was good and varied. Attentive staff.

Very good value for money. Friendly, helpful and courteous staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. I would have no hesitation to stay again and recommentd this hotel to my colleagues.

Golden Tulip Bahrain - Happy Customer
I often stay at the Golden Tulip in Manama - it might not be the most modern hotel in the city, but it is very clean, very respectable, very friendly and great value for money. The 1960's / 70's style is also pleasingly different. I think most of the rooms have been refurbished now, I have always have had a good room, so no complaints. A happy customer who recommends the hotel. Overnight Stay - May 27th, 2010
Enjoyed a pleasant overnight stay at the hotel on Thursday May 27th, 2010. The room was very comfortable and extremely clean and the complimentary fruit platter/water was very welcome indeed. The Staff at the hotel were very pleasant and the pool facilities very nice. Although a little dated now, the hotel provided a very nice atmosphere and I would not hesitate to stay there again. I have stayed at this Tulip many times and have always found it to be excellent. The staff is always courteous and efficient.
However, I do have three improvement suggestions:
The coffee shop chairs even with cushions are too low compared to the table height. I felt as if the table was right up to my chin. Being average height for a woman, if I feel like that, shorter women feel even more so.
The a/c in the rooms needs work. Seeing that Bahrain is in a hot climate, I would expect the room a/c to be much, much better. My room never went below 25C even with the fan on high and the thermostat set at the lowest possible setting.
Towels - there are never enough for two people & I always have to ask for more I have stayed at this Tulip many times and have always found it to be excellent. The staff is always courteous and efficient.
